31 millimeters? oh how funny people often misinterpret the band name 31mm. 31 music ministry.... why 31? "bec. the band consist of 3 people and in 1 band." hehehe but actually, the band name was taken from the Bible. "For the Glory of Our Lord Jesus Christ"... too long. so cut it short, the phrase was consist of 31 letters so we ended to the idea of taking the 31 music ministry. And that was about 3 years ago.
Our aim was to spread good news through music and we know it's tough especially here in PI but we try hard for it. We've been in the Southern Leyte to Jam during summer camps. We've been in remote places just to jam and experience His presence through music. We love music, we love Christ.... it's so blessed when you see young people praying through music. Some cried after the jam on how God touches them through music. We carry lots of songs... from slow to fast... we try very hard and practice hard for it. Sometimes we were invited to play in a wedding as a wedding band. hehehe
a Band consist of instrumentalist and a lead vocal... sad to say we don't have a lead vocal. we've in years but we don't have a lead vocal. part-time singers only. hehehe sometimes we just laugh after a hard time practice and still no one is there to sing. hehehe so we grab young people in the church and go sing. Sometimes a 10 year old kid was our lead vocal in an offertory time. hehehe we teach our young people to play instruments. the church was full of talented youngsters. sometimes during summer, we teach guitar lessons, drums and bass.
In the pace of time, the band was level-up when Grande was with us. It was a break-thru to us. That was the first Jam we did together with a Real Singer and Artist. We were so blessed. Gathering 600 crowd and jumping and singing... that was the best!! Now, some churches inviting us to play for their Youth Week activity and the other was a wedding again. hehehe
We were hoping that our church will support us for what we do. It's so frustrating sometimes to know that our home church don't support us. Some Oldies don't like the new wave beats and songs.. The band sometimes go down and disappear because the oldies don't like that band thingy. Everytime the band has an oppurtunity to play, we do it in our own way.. "you do that? go your way".. If we were invited to play during camps, we need to ask permission to the council and battle for reasons. sometimes they win. But lately we win! hehehe Grande was with us... after a weeks of preparing and roaming around the city just to get sponsorships and solicitations, advertising, inviting and practicing, thank God it was a success. the Band and the crews was assigned to do certain task. the band, after practice, went out and sell tickets, inviting while some crews were posting flyers.... It's so tiring sometimes... the Jam was for the church then how come the oldies won't support us? they've been praying for the church renovation but they're not helping. Anyway, yes we did our task and make the concert a successful one.
a Big Thanks to Grande and his family.... that was the best thing that ever happen to us.
